Ziov Tech is a small software house in Ireland. We build things that give a screen a sense of depth, and things that give a language a memory.
What we make
Three projects carry the work today. Ziovs 3D Player turns any film into a stereo picture while it plays, and puts a browser in 3D beside it. Ziovs 2Dto3D does the same job offline and at full quality, by measuring depth and warping the original frames rather than generating new ones. Cara teaches Irish, and is the other half of the work.
Two of them are sold as one-off downloads on itch.io, and the third is free to play. Ziovs 3D Player is currently on sale at €12.50, and Ziovs 2Dto3D is €15.00 or more. You pay once, there is no subscription and nothing expires.
They share an approach. Work out the real thing – the true depth of a scene, the real shape of a word – and show that, rather than approximating it in a way that looks convincing. A 3D picture that is geometrically correct is watchable. A generated one is not.
How we work
- Measure, then render. The depth model produces a map. Everything after that is arithmetic on the original picture.
- It has to run on your machine. No account, no subscription, no telemetry, nothing uploaded. The player is an offline installer that carries everything it needs.
- Nothing is re-encoded. Decode once, compose on the GPU, leave the file on the disk alone. It is faster and it is lossless.
- Say what is happening. The logs report the real state of the machine, and the interface explains every control in plain words.
Licensing
Ziovs 3D Player and Ziovs 2Dto3D are proprietary products of Ziov Tech, sold as one-off purchases on itch.io. Cara is free to play and its sources and licences are listed in its own About screen. Third-party components keep their own licences.
