Depth and geometry video converter
Turn any video into stereoscopic 3D.
Side-by-side or over-under, for a VR headset or a 3D TV. No prompts, no checkpoint, no AI art - just depth and geometry. Ziovs 2Dto3D builds a real stereo pair from any film: a monocular network gives relative depth per frame, edge-aligned to the picture, the depth range is stabilised shot by shot, and each eye samples the frame at its own offset. Geometry, not generation, so the two eyes agree - which is what stereopsis requires.
Each eye samples the frame at x - d/2. Because the picture is warped, not invented, the stereo pair is correct rather than plausible.
The double edge and the trails around an object are measured and removed: 12.9 px per eye down to 1.7 px on Balanced, and 35 px down to 4.9 px on Strong.
Every run is sectioned, resumable and interruptible. Sections already finished are never redone, and Stop keeps them.
Features
Half side-by-side is what headsets expect and the cheapest to make, then full side-by-side, half over-under and full over-under. The output size can follow the film or be scaled to 1080p, 4K or 8K.
Gentle, Balanced, Strong, Maximum pop-out or Custom. Pick a style and then fine-tune it with the sliders - 5 is the recommended setting on every slider, and one button puts them all back.
3D depth, Pop-out, Smoothness, Edge comfort, Strength limit and Sharpness. Each one carries a plain-language note about what a higher or a lower number does to the picture.
The double edge and the trails around an object are removed, and the result is measured per eye: 12.9 px down to 1.7 px on Balanced, 35 px down to 4.9 px on Strong. Smooth and Snap edge modes decide how the edge is resolved.
Screen shake, tearing and ghosting are fixed before the conversion starts, so the picture does not breathe between shots. It is on by default, and the app says plainly that it makes the run take longer.
Blocky, low-quality video is cleaned up automatically, and only when the source needs it. The sharpness slider decides how crisp the finished picture looks, and the cinematic colour pass is the film-style grade from Ziovs 3D Player: richer contrast, soft highlights, a subtle warm or cool tone and a gentle vignette.
Try the settings on the start of the video before you commit to the whole thing. The test file gets _test1min or _test5min in its name, so the look can be judged without waiting for the film to finish.
Every run is sectioned: sections already done are skipped, and Stop keeps the finished ones. The graphics card profile is picked for you - High-end, Mid, Entry or Low - and how much of the card the app may use is yours to set.

No. The film is never regenerated and no frame is invented. A depth map is measured, stabilised, turned into parallax and used to warp the original picture into a stereo pair.
Half side-by-side if you are going to watch in a VR headset, because most VR players expect it and it is the cheapest to make. Full side-by-side if each eye should stay full size. Half over-under and full over-under are there for the players that want them.
Yes, but the depth model runs on the CPU, around ten times slower. The app says so plainly in the log rather than appearing to hang.
Nothing is lost. Every run is sectioned, and sections already finished are never redone. Press Stop, and Start again later to carry on from where it stopped.
Run the 3D check on the converted file. It looks at depth, steadiness and edges and reports what it finds, and every run leaves a conversion report behind.
Yes. Ziovs2dto3d convert --input film.mp4 --output film_3d.mp4 --layout sbs converts a file, and Ziovs2dto3d check runs the 3D check on a finished film.
